VA Loans in Hawaii
In Hawaii, property taxes are set by each county, and the counties provide strong protection for the homes of totally disabled veterans. The federal VA loan benefit is the same in every state: eligible buyers can buy with no down payment and competitive rates.
Hawaii benefits for veterans
Property tax relief for veterans
The home of a veteran who is totally disabled because of injuries received while on duty with the U.S. armed forces may be exempt from real property taxes, apart from a small minimum tax. The City and County of Honolulu is one example.
The exemption can also cover the veteran's spouse, and it continues for a surviving spouse who doesn't remarry.
