VA Loans in Michigan

Michigan fully exempts the homes of veterans with the most serious service-connected disabilities, and the exemption follows an unremarried surviving spouse. The federal VA loan benefit is the same in every state: eligible buyers can buy with no down payment and competitive rates.

Michigan benefits for veterans

Property tax relief for veterans

Michigan veterans who are rated permanently and totally disabled from military service at the VA's highest rate, are rated individually unemployable, or have received VA specially adapted housing assistance may be exempt from property taxes on their principal residence.

An unremarried surviving spouse can keep the exemption, including on a home bought after the veteran's death. Once granted, the exemption no longer needs to be renewed every year.

How to apply: Apply with the assessor in the city or township where the home is located.
